Spirula Necklace

Also known as a Ram’s Horn Shell, these babies are actually from a squid! How cool is that?!
 
This is a half-cast, and thus the back is flat. The spirula shell is too fragile to hold up in the casting process, and thus I made a silicon mold of half of a shell. Then, I fill this mold with wax and then send the wax replica off to Lenrose Casting, who replace the wax with recycled sterling silver.
Can be made blackened with patina (see images with lemon background) or put straight into the tumbler for extra shine (see white background images). Depends on your vibe! Pictured with a thinner chain that i no longer stock, and 3mm greek leather.
 
Please note this is a made to order item! Please allow up to 5 weeks for completion, as I have to send the wax off for casting!
Leather necklets can be made in the thickness, length and even colour of your choosing. Default is black! Please contact me if you would like something other than the options listed.
